【奇跡の再会】
今回のカナダでは、他にもミラクルがありました。
私が高校生の頃、アメリカのコネチカットに留学していた時に、
バンクーバーから仙台の実家に1年間、交換留学生としてホームスティをしていたGeordie.
そのジョーディが今年3月に仙台の実家を数十年ぶりに、
家族を連れて訪ねてくれました。

両親とは長い年月を経て感激の再会でした。
そして田川とは初めまして。
かけがえのない3日間を過ごしました。
さらに偶然にも、私たちは初のバンクーバー行きを控えていた為、
「一体何というミラクルだろう！」と、
運命のようなタイミングに驚き合いました。
【バンクーバー公演へ】
そして先月、
バンクーバーでの「IGNITE」コンサートには、
ジョーディと奥さんのMagdaと息子の3人で
駆け付けてくれました。
初のカナダ公演に向けて、
私たちは様々な思いとプレッシャーもあった中、
終演後に私を見つけて、みんながニコニコして駆け寄ってきて、
マグダがハグしてくれたとき、私の緊張の糸も一気にほぐれたのを鮮明に覚えています。
【おもてなしの数々】
ライブの数日後、ジョーディの別宅に泊めてもらいました。
そしてここから彼らと宝物のような時間が。
初日はボートに乗ってグランビルアイランドへ！
美味しいデザートを食べたり散策したり、
気がつけば歩数計は1万2千歩を記録（笑）。
その後は自宅でディナーに招待して貰い、
手料理のおもてなしの数々に感激。
家族3人で沢山準備してくれていました。

【 Let’s go on an adventure＆最高の締めくくり】
翌日は「アドベンチャーに行きましょう！」と、
マグダの運転でノースバンクーバーのグラウスマウンテンへ！
標高1,250mの頂上までゴンドラで登る景色は、息をのむほどの絶景。

名物の「木こりのショー（Lumberjack Show）」も観ることができ、
カナダの伝統的な伐採技術などをユーモアたっぷりで体験しました。

その後は、スタンレーパーク、トーテンポール、ビーチ、
そして北米最大のアオサギの繁殖地（臭いも最大級🤣）など、
「これぞバンクーバー！」という場所、
田川も楽しめるところを次から次へと本当にたくさん案内してくれました。

手料理からはじまり、コーヒーショップ、サンドイッチやポテトを楽しんだあと、ディナーに行きましょう！と
連れて行ってくれた場所はまさかの「Japaneseラーメン」🍜😆

ユーモアに溢れた最高のナビゲート!!
【旅の終わりのサプライズ】
朝から晩まで目いっぱい楽しんだ後、
私たちは「別宅で待っていてね」と休んでいると、
そのあと、迎えに来てくれたジョーディから更なるサプライズが。
差し出されたのは、ジョーディとマグダから、
私の仙台の両親への贈り物、
そして私たちへの贈り物と手書きのメッセージカードでした。
一日中私たちを全力で楽しませてくれた後、
自宅に帰ってからプレゼントのラッピングをしたり、
カードを書いてくれたりしていたのだと思うと、
もう胸がいっぱいで言葉になりませんでした。
そして私達を滞在先まで車で送り届けてくれたあと、
ジョーディが一言「I have to say goodbye.... 」と、
すると田川がジョーディにピックを手渡しました。
するとジョーディが「Hiroakiありがとう。これを持ってローラーコースターに乗ればもう怖くないよ」と笑
しばし大笑い。
そして「Mizuhoが通訳を頑張ってくれたおかげでHiroakiと友だちになることができた」と言ってくれました。
長い年月を経て、国境も時間も超えて、
新しい家族と一緒に、さらに大きくて温かい絆に育っていたこと。
改めて人と人との出会いの尊さを実感しました。

旅中にジョーディーとマグダが見つけてくれた宝物。
【A Miraculous Reunion】
There was another miracle that happened during our trip to Canada.
When I was in high school, I studied abroad in Connecticut, USA. At the same time, Geordie, who is from Vancouver,
spent a year living with my family in Sendai as an exchange student.
Then, this past March, This March, Geordie visited my parents' home in Sendai with his family reconnecting after several decades！
It was an emotional reunion for my parents after so many years and it was also the first time he and Hiroaki had ever met.
What made it even more incredible was that we were already preparing for our very first trip to Vancouver.
We all looked at each other in amazement and thought,
“What an unbelievable miracle!”
The timing felt almost destined, as if everything had come together exactly as it was meant to.
【 Vancouver Performance】
Geordie and his wife Magda and their son came to see the IGNITE concert in Vancouver!
As we prepared for our first trip to Canada and for this special event, we carried many emotions and a great deal of anticipation and pressure as well.
After the show, When I saw their smiling faces, and Magda gave me a hug, all the tension I had been carrying melted away at once.
【A Vancouver Tour Filled with Love】
A few days after the event, we were able to spend some truly unforgettable time together.
Geordie kindly hosted us in his office apartment.
On our first day, we took a boat to Granville Island.
We enjoyed some delicious desserts and explored Granville Island, and before we knew it, our pedometer showed more than 12,000 steps!
Later that evening, we were invited to their home for a homemade dinner. We enjoyed a delicious meal and we were deeply touched by their warm hospitality.
【Let’s Go on an Adventure & A Perfect Ending】
The next day, Magda said, “Let’s go on an adventure!”
She drove us to Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver.
The gondola ride to the 1,250-meter summit offered breathtaking views that left us speechless.We also enjoyed the famous Lumberjack Show, where we learned about traditional Canadian logging skills through entertaining and humorous demonstrations.
They took us to many iconic Vancouver locations,
The roller coaster adventure, Stanley Park, the totem poles, beautiful beaches, and even North America’s largest great blue heron colony (which may also have been the strongestsmelling🤣! ).
One after another, they showed us places that truly represent Vancouver, as well as places they knew I would especially enjoy.
After enjoying some of the local favorites recommended coffee shops, delicious sandwiches, and French fries.
The grand finale was, unexpectedly,
Japanese ramen🍜😆!!
A perfect ending filled with both love and joy!
【A Surprise at the End of the Journey】
After a day filled with adventure from morning until night, Geordie and Magda told us, “Wait at the house and relax for a while.”
When Geordie came to pick us up later, another heartfelt surprise was waiting for us.
He handed us beautifully wrapped gifts,
one for my parents in Sendai, gifts for us, and message cards from both him and Magda.
Thinking about that filled my heart with gratitude and left me at a loss for words.
After Geordie drove us back to where we were staying,
He said, "I have to say goodbye."
At that moment, Hiroaki handed Geordie one of his guitar picks.
Then Geordie said "Thank you, Hiroaki. If I take this with me on a roller coaster, I won’t be scared anymore!”
We all burst into laughter.
Then he said, "Thanks to the hard work Mizuho put into translating for us, I was able to become friends with Hiroaki.
Hearing those words meant so much to me.
After so many years, our connection had grown into something even greater and warmer transcending both distance and time, and embracing a new family along the way.
Once again, I was reminded of the true value of human connections and the unexpected ways they continue to enrich our lives.
